Fescue grasses are disease resistant and shade tolerant. These grasses can grow in a wide range of temperatures but thrive in cooler weather. When mowing fescue grasses, keep at a height of 2-3 inches. During the warmer months, a 3 inch cutting height is recommended to reduce stress. A complete fertilizer containing nitrogen, phosphate, and potassium is required twice a year (spring and fall). After installation, fescue sod must be watered daily for the first 2 weeks in order to establish root stability.

Bermudagrass prefers warmer temperatures, requires full sun, and is drought tolerant. It spreads quickly and can withstand heavy traffic. Bermudagrass will go dormant and turn brown after the first frost. When mowing, keep at a height of 1/2-1 inch and remove clippings. Use a complete fertilizer in the spring when new growth appears, then feed every 6 weeks until fall.
